Section 13.2 - Derivative 2 Object Noun اِسْمُ الْمَفْعُوْلِ is-mul maf’ooli

 

Object Noun is a derivative of a root which defines the object of an act. For example, words like the one what was heard, read, spoken, work was done, who was helped, who drank etc. Below is a list of Verbs and object Nouns used in Qur’an extensively:

 

The scale of مَفْعُوْلٌ maf-’oo-lun, for example مَضْرُوْبٌ mad-roo-bun meaning the one who was hit.

He saw	رَءَا   Ra-‘aa	What is seen, viewed, visible, visual	مَرْئِيٌّ   Mar-bi-yun
He came	أَتَى   a-taa	Sure to come	مَأتيٌّ   Maa-ti-un
He willed	شَآءَ   Sha-‘a	Will/desire	مَشِيءٌ   Ma-shee-‘un
He created	خَلَقَ   Kha-la-qa	creation	مَخلُوْقٌ   Makh-loo-qun
He called upon, invoked	دَعَا   Da-‘aa	One who is invited, called upon	مَدْعُوٌّ   Mad-‘oo-wun
He guided/advised	هَدَى   Ha-daa	One who is on the right course	مَهدِيٌّ   Mah-di-yun
He caught, grabbed	أَخَذَ   akha-za	collected, picked up, reached for	مَأخُوْذٌ   Maa-khoo-zun
He adored, worshiped	عَبَدَ   ‘aba-da	One who is worshipped	مَعْبُوْدٌ   Ma’boo-dun
He was unfair, unjust	ظَلَمَ   Za-la-ma	oppressed	مَظْلُوْمٌ   Maz-loo-mun
He asked, inquired	سَأَلَ   Sa-ala	The one who is ordered	مَسْئُولٌ   Mas-’oo-lun
He discovered; found out	وَجَدَ   Wa-ja-da	One who is found/ present	مَوجُوْدٌ   Maw-joo-dun
He ate	أَكَلَ   aa-ka-la	Edible, what is eaten	مَأكُوْلٌ   Maa-koo-lun
He worked	فَعَلَ   Fa-‘a-la	Object of an act	مَفْعُوْلٌ   Maf-‘oo-lun
He looked	نَظَرَ   Na-za-ra	seen, viewed, visible	مَنْظُوْرٌ   Man-zoo-run
